New web service to showcase pupils’ talent launched

A new website which supports music learning and provides a national showcase for new music talent is launched this month.

NUMU is a collaboration between Musical Futures and the online community dbass.org and has been designed in close consultation with young people, music leaders and music services.

It provides students from 10-18 with the tools to create web pages where they can publish their own music, images and videos as well as connect and collaborate with other musicians and compete in national and local music charts.

It also enables teachers to create learning activities which support face-to-face classroom activities as well as encouraging students to learn outside school.

NUMU is available for schools and organisations for a annual licence fee from £99 and the service is free to use for all 10-18 year old students in the UK.

Schools can purchase NUMU with e-learning Credits.

“NUMU has the potential to put the music department at the heart of digital creativity in the school and to help young people develop a wide range of skills which are highly relevant to the media rich world they live in,” says the website’s Tim Riches.
