Survey shows demand for independent education has risen

A survey has shown that independent education is more popular with parents than ever. The survey, by Ipsos MORI for the Independent Schools Council (ISC), found that 57% of parents would send their child to an independent school if they could afford to. This is the highest level since the survey began and is up 20% on the last survey in 2004.

The reasons for choosing independent education have changed since 2004. “Better standards of education” continues to be the prime factor for parents wanting to send their children to independent schools (66% of parents gave this reason), “better discipline” has risen to second place (with 30% of parents citing this as a reason) and better moral standards rose to its highest ever level since 1997 with 15% of parents giving it as a reason.
