1,000th school awarded ICT Mark

Becta, the lead agency for technology in education, has announced that St Dunstan’s Cheam Church of England Primary School, in Sutton, Surrey, is the 1,000th school to be awarded the ICT Mark.

The ICT Mark recognises schools using technology to improve overall effectiveness across all aspects of school life including pupil assessment, teaching and learning, the development of staff, leadership and management.

The ICT Mark was created in 2006 and since then more than 800 primary and 180 secondary schools have received the accreditation. The ICT Mark is awarded to schools after they complete an assessment process, which includes completing Becta’s self-review framework and an assessment by a Becta accredited assessor. Becta research indicates that ICT Mark accredited schools are four times more likely to be rated outstanding in the overall effectiveness category of Ofsted inspection reports.
